TLC’s Humble Amish Participants
It was in 2012 that a group of five Amish devotees made their way to New York to star in Breaking Amish. Two years following the show’s successes, Return to Amish was spawned as a spinoff. While the Amish stars had had their lives documented for many years by the show’s crew, many viewers worried that the cast did not see much in the way of payment. Sabrina, who was part of the cast, revealed that she does in fact see compensation for her time on the show, but that doesn’t mean that she is not otherwise employed. Similar to the 90 Day Fiance stars, MoneyWise believes that the Amish participants earn about $1,000 with each episode.
The Volunteer Work Of My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding’s Stars
My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding followed Romani couples between 2012 and 2016 as they celebrated their colorful weddings. Priscilla was one participant of the show that revealed that she appeared without being compensated. She stated that she and her co-stars were not paid for being on the show. Further, the ceremonies and dresses that were seen in the show would be hammed up for entertainment’s sake. Priscilla leveled accusations of disrespecting her community against TLC.
